6 Practical Tips for Cleaning Invisalign® Aligners

Cleaning Invisalign in Lebanon, rinsing aligner under with water

One of the best things about Invisalign treatment is that the aligners are clear, lending them a subtle appearance. However, the aligners will not stay clear if you do not keep them clean. Bacteria and food particles might accumulate on them, leading to discoloration, unpleasant odors, and an increased risk of oral health problems. Fortunately, cleaning Invisalign in Lebanon is not complicated. Here are some tips to help you establish a good routine:

Rinse Your Aligners Regularly

Simply running water over your aligners can sweep away surface debris and play a role in keeping them clean. Rinsing them after meals before you put them back in your mouth is important. You should also rinse them nightly before you brush them. Keep in mind that you should not use extremely hot water because it could cause warping.

Soak Your Aligners Nightly

Invisalign sells special cleaning products that are designed for soaking aligners. The cleaning solutions break up plaque and fight bacteria, helping to keep both your smile and your orthodontic gear clean. If you do not have Invisalign-brand cleaning products, that is okay. You can soak your aligners for a few minutes in a retainer-cleaning solution.

Brush Your Aligners Nightly

A soft-bristled brush can clean your aligners and help to remove bacteria. Do not use the same brush that you use on your teeth; you should use clear soap to clean Invisalign, and the last thing you want is soapy residue to make it into your mouth. Brushing your aligners should be a nightly part of your oral hygiene routine. After brushing, make sure to thoroughly rinse off any soap before placing the aligners back in your mouth.

Keep Your Teeth Clean

You do not want bacteria and food particles to transfer from your teeth to your aligners. That is why you should brush your teeth after each meal, and be sure to rinse away toothpaste residue so it will not start to affect your aligners’ appearance. Flossing your teeth regularly is also important.

Store Your Aligners Properly

You should never eat while wearing your aligners. When you remove them for a meal, do not let them sit in the open air, and do not wrap them in a napkin. Instead, use a designated storage case. This can protect them from dust and other small particles that might otherwise accumulate on them.

Drink Only Water While Wearing Invisalign

It is fine to enjoy plain water while you are wearing Invisalign. However, you should avoid sipping on other beverages while your aligners are in your mouth. Pigmented beverages could cause stains, and hot beverages could cause warping.

Caring for Invisalign in Lebanon requires some adjustments to your daily routine. However, maintaining a fresh, healthy, and attractive smile makes it worth the effort!
